Directions to Acknowledge Learners' Self-organization in CSCL Macro-scripts

چکیده
In this article we present a conceptual analysis of the notion of learners’ selforganization in CSCL macro-scripts. We highlight that taking into account selforganization as an emergent feature of activity requires considering issues such as conceptual and technological tools to support learners’ self-organization, maintenance of coherence between the script pedagogical objective and the emergent organization and between the technological setting and the emergent activity.

Supporting Learners' Self-organization: An Exploratory Study
Learners engaged in CSCL macro-scripts are involved in selforganization activities. We present an exploratory study that suggests that Bardram’s theoretical model of collective work dynamics is a pertinent basis for both (1) designing interfaces providing a passive support that engages learners in an explicit organization activity, and (2) making learners’ organization more easily detectable an...
متن کاملOrchestrating learning activities on the social and the cognitive level to foster CSCL
CSCL includes a wide range of scenarios that integrate individual and collaborative learning. Scripts have repeatedly proven useful for guiding learners to engage in specific roles and activities in CSCL environments. The effective mechanisms of scripts in stimulating cognitive and collaborative processes, however, are not yet well understood. Moreover, scripts have been shown to be somewhat in...
متن کاملFlexibility in macro-scripts for CSCL
In the field of computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL), scripts are designed to support collaboration among distant learners or copresent learners whose interactions are (at least partially) mediated by a computer. The rationale of scripts is to structure collaborative learning processes in order to trigger group interactions that may be rare in free collaboration. Fixing the degree o...
متن کاملOperationalizing macro-scripts in CSCL technological settings
This paper presents a conceptual analysis of the technological dimensions related to the operationalization of CSCL macro-scripts. CSCL scripts are activity models that aim at enhancing the probability knowledge generative interactions such as conflict resolution, explanation or mutual regulation occur during the collaboration process. We first recall basics about CSCL scripts and macro-scripts...
متن کاملEmerging and scripted roles in computer-supported collaborative learning
Emerging and scripted roles pose an intriguing approach to analysing and facilitating CSCL. The concept of emerging roles provides a perspective on how learners structure and self-regulate their CSCL processes. Emerging roles appear to be dynamic over longer periods of time in relation to learners’ advancing knowledge, but are often unequally distributed in ad hoc CSCL settings, e.g. a learner ...
